UAHS Cum Laude Society welcomes 100 new inductees

The Upper Arlington chapter of the Cum Laude Society, supported by the Dr. Charles Wade Moulton Fund of the Upper Arlington Education Foundation, welcomed 100 new inductees from the Classes of 2024 and 2025 in April. They join 44 current seniors from the Class of 2024 who are already members. 

This is the highest academic recognition a high school student can achieve on a national level. The society was established in 1906 to recognize academic excellence, justice and honor. It was modeled after Phi Beta Kappa.

UAHS students honored as Ohio Governor's Youth Arts Exhibition winners

Congratulations to the following Upper Arlington High School students who were honored this spring as regional and top 300 winners in the Ohio Governor's Youth Arts Exhibition. The top 300 pieces are on display at the May 16 at the James A. Rhodes State Office Tower.

'Norwester' turns the page with its 100th volume

This spring, as Upper Arlington High School prepares to celebrate its 100th graduating class, it will also publish the 100th volume of what is now known as the Norwester.

While the school “annual,” as it was known at the time, was first published in 1923, the 1925 edition is officially labeled as volume one — coinciding with the opening of Upper Arlington’s first school building, now known as Jones Middle School, and Upper Arlington’s first graduating class.

Community invited to Wickliffe castle playground farewell on May 20

This spring, the new Wickliffe playground began taking shape, with the installation of new swings and spinners, thanks to initial fundraising efforts by a team of school and community volunteers. Following the end of the school year, the wooden castle structure, which has reached the end of its useful lifespan after being installed more than 30 years ago, will be removed. 

Please join the Wickliffe school community for a farewell celebration to enjoy some final moments before we say goodbye to the Wickliffe Castle Playground on Monday, May 20, 2024, at 8:30 a.m., with a reception immediately following. This celebration will be open to all community members and will be held outside near the castle playground. Please bring your own seating. RSVP here.

District highlights

The Board of Education recognized Upper Arlington High School divers Mira W. and Madi V., who qualified to compete in the state diving championships in February. It was a great showing for the Golden Bears - freshman Mira placed 21st and sophomore Madi placed fifth in the state in the diving championships.
